Comme pour la branche automobile du groupe Steyr, l&rsquo;histoire de Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG remonte \u00e0 1935, Steyr reprit la filiale autrichienne de Daimler-Benz, Austro-Daimler, et Puch Werke, un fabricant de bicyclettes, pour construire des mod\u00e8les de camions dans l&rsquo;usine de Floridsdorf Vienne. Ensuite, durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, la nouvelle soci\u00e9t\u00e9 produisait des camions l\u00e9gers et mi-lourds ainsi que des v\u00e9hicules militaires. Apr\u00e8s le conflit, une nouvelle gamme de camions apparut, principalement \u00e0 capot, pour des charges utiles de 4 \u00e0 8 tonnes. Mod\u00e8le 380, avec 4 tonnes, Mod\u00e8le 480, avec 5 tonnes, Mod\u00e8le 480Z, avec 6 tonnes, Mod\u00e8le 586, avec 7 tonnes, Mod\u00e8le 780, avec 8 tonnes, Mod\u00e8le 790, En 1959, Steyr produisit la s\u00e9rie Haflinger 700AP, 4X4. En 1968, Steyr, introduisit une nouvelle gamme de camions, en porteur, et en tracteur, et nomm\u00e9e \u00ab Plus \u00bb, avec une cabine avanc\u00e9e, avec en option une couchette, deux choix de moteurs Steyr : un moteur diesel, de 6 cylindres, avec un turbocompresseur, de 280 chevaux, et un de 8 cylindres, de 320 chevaux, une transmission \u00e0 13 rapports fuller, de freins \u00e0 air, en configuration de: 4&#215;2, 4&#215;4, 6&#215;4, 6&#215;6 et des charges utiles de 5 \u00e0 32 tonnes. En 1970, Steyr fabriqua un mod\u00e8le de fourgon-pompe de Type 4000\/200, avec un moteur diesel de 170 chevaux, une pompe de 18 000 litres\/minutes, d&rsquo;un r\u00e9servoir d&rsquo;eau de 4 000 litres, quatre roues motrices, et bas\u00e9 sur le ch\u00e2ssis Steyr Mod\u00e8le 790. En 1971, Steyr inaugure la s\u00e9rie Pinzgauer, un mod\u00e8le tout-terrain, avec un moteur de 2,5 litres, et en configuration de 4&#215;4, 6&#215;6. En 1974, Steyr construit deux usines, une \u00e0 Thessalonique, en Gr\u00e8ce, et l&rsquo;autre \u00e0 Bauchi, au Nigeria.
