Pr\u00e9curseur, et leader en France, d&rsquo;un transport de niche, le transport routier de produits volumineux \u00e0 faible densit\u00e9. Dans les ann\u00e9es 80, la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Savam est num\u00e9ro un fran\u00e7ais dans son secteur, les camions de la Savam transportaient des meubles, de l\u2019isolation, des matelas, tout ce qui est volumineux mais pas tr\u00e8s lourd. Leurs engins \u00e9taient \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque tr\u00e8s connus, car ils ont \u00e9t\u00e9 pendant des ann\u00e9es le transporteur officiel du Tour de France cycliste. Ces grands camions et remorques blancs, par\u00e9s d\u2019un grand S bleu, \u00e9taient sur toutes les \u00e9tapes du Tour, mais aussi tout au long de l\u2019ann\u00e9e, sur les routes de France et d\u2019Europe. Savam, est pr\u00e9sent en Grande-Bretagne, en Italie, en Espagne, au Portugal et au Luxembourg. La soci\u00e9t\u00e9 est rachet\u00e9e en 1987 par le britannique BET. Mais, \u00e0 l&rsquo;issue d&rsquo;une OPA hostile, ce dernier \u00e9tait entr\u00e9 en 1995 dans le giron du groupe britannique Rentokil Initial.
